Hidden Valley Touring and Camping - Ilfracombe, North Devon

Hidden Valley Touring and Camping - Ilfracombe, North Devon:

Our 'tintent' was here for about 5 weeks as both family and friends made use of it. We will be here for a good two weeks and have started to notice a few irritating things. The drive ways around the site are bumpy. The paths are not really suited to the disabled and infirm but we can see they are working on it which would go a long way to making the fifth star.

The setting under the trees is lovely but, therein lies the problem, you don't get to see as much sun as a more open site. Not a big issue to be fair more an observation for sun worshippers!

Now the good stuff... Toilets generally are clean and well appointed, the disabled and family room toilets are excellent.

The restaurant looks really good but as we have not yet used it we cannot comment on the quality of the meals. Staff are very, very helpful and pleasant. No faults at all there.

The small shop caters for all the essentials and you can order local produce from there if required.

Facilities for the children are a large climbing apparatus etc and with a watching parent damming the small stream seems to be a favourite past time!

If beaches are your thing then North Devon has loads and the site is no more than 20 mins from lots of truly excellent beaches. Beware parking in the summer is approx £7.50 for the day but, big hint, Saunton beach has a pay and display of a pound an hour if you dont want to stay for long!!

Shopping... Tesco and Lidl are both very local and either can be reached in a ten to fifteen minute drive. Parking is free at both.

Would we come again? Yes! It is a delightful site, well run and well placed for all the areas you will want to see. Prices for pitches are reasonable and in keeping with other sites locally. Access to the site is excellent and the route (A361) from the M5 Jnc 27 is a breeze if you are towing or in a large camper van!

If you are in a camper van and need the use of public transport then the bus stop is right outside the camp entrance 😀

All in all a very pleasant three weeks was had by all. Recommend you try it!
